The holding company of the ZWZ brand is Wafangdian Bearing Group Corporation (ZWZ Group), which has a history dating back to 1938 when Manchuria Bearing Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was established in Wafangdian, Dalian, by Japan. At that time, they only produced bearing outer rings, while steel balls and cages were imported from Japan. In 1949, Wafangdian Ball Bearing Factory successfully developed steel balls and cages. In September of the same year, Wafangdian Bearing presented China's first set of industrial bearings, which was a gift for the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China. Since then, Wafangdian Bearing has continued to achieve numerous "firsts" in the Chinese bearing industry, including the first set of railway bearings, the first set of nuclear industry bearings, the first set of heavy-duty vehicle bearings, the first set of tank guide wheel bearings, the first set of metallurgical rolling mill bearings, the first set of machine tool spindle bearings, the first set of wind power generator bearings, the first set of bearings for artificial satellites, and the first set of bearings for astronomical telescopes. Wafangdian Bearing Group, as the first factory in China to produce finished industrial bearings, is hailed as the "hometown and cradle" of China's bearing industry.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Wafangdian Bearing Group established Harbin Bearing Factory through relocation, aided the construction of Luoyang Bearing Factory, and provided support and assistance in terms of talents, technology, and management to hundreds of bearing enterprises nationwide. It made outstanding contributions to the development of China's bearing industry and national defense construction. As the oldest bearing brand in China, Wafangdian Bearing Group also expanded to the international market. It was one of the earliest Chinese bearing brands to enter the global market. The Wafangdian Bearing USA Technical R&D Center is located in Plymouth, Michigan, USA. In 2013, Wafangdian Bearing Group acquired KRW Bearing GmbH, a German company with a century-old history. In 2015, Wafangdian Bearing Group established the Wafangdian Bearing European Technical R&D Center, marking the initial completion of its layout in the European and American markets.
