JAF

JAF, a Japanese niche brand, is officially known as Fujino Iron Works and is located in the Osaka region of Japan. Although JAF may not be a large-scale company, its history can be traced back to 1946 when it was established under the name Sanwa Sanyo Co., Ltd., with the aim of producing bicycle parts. The predecessor of Sanwa Sanyo Co., Ltd., was a bearing industry called Hokoku Bearing Industry Co., Ltd., founded in 1942 and destroyed during World War II. In 1955, Sanwa Sanyo Co., Ltd., changed its name to its current name, Fujino Iron Works Co. Ltd., and started producing and selling ball bearings under the "KKF" trademark. However, due to the similarity between the "KKF" trademark and "SKF," in 1960, Fujino Iron Works changed its trademark to the current "JAF" trademark, following an agreement with SKF from Sweden, and registered it with the Japanese Patent Office. In 1969, JAF opened its second factory in Aoyama, Mie Prefecture, Japan, and began operations there.
