The Dodge brand, founded in 1878 by Wallace Dodge, is headquartered in Nagreenville, South Carolina, USA. It has six factories worldwide, with five in the United States and one in Shanghai, China. Dodge is a leading designer, manufacturer, and marketer of mechanical power transmission products in the North American region and serves global markets, including bearings, gearboxes, gear motors, couplings, transmission components, intelligent sensors, and more. Their mounted bearings have been at the forefront of technological advancements in the industry for over a century and have gained widespread recognition. As early as 1923 and 1943, Dodge introduced the Type C split taper bearing and Type E bearing to the market, earning the reputation of being the "uncrowned king of mounted bearings."
With a history of over 140 years, the Dodge bearing brand has undergone a series of changes. In 2007, it was acquired by Baldor Electric Company in the United States, forming three major product pillars: mounted bearings, motors, and gearboxes. In 2010, ABB Group acquired Baldor Electric, becoming part of ABB's Automation and Motion Control Business Unit. Then, on November 1, 2021, RBC Bearings (Nasdaq: ROLL), listed on Nasdaq, officially acquired ABB's mechanical power transmission business, including the Dodge division. Within a short span of 15 years, Dodge bearings changed ownership three times. Throughout its long history, Dodge bearings emerged as a pioneering company in the emerging bearing industry in the late 19th century, becoming a competitor to the contemporaneous Timken Company in the United States.
